FALLING TO FLY
A true story of survival and transformation
Falling to Fly is a memoir that reads like a novel.
Exciting, dark, magical, comic and optimistic, it’s a tale of an ordinary man on an extraordinary journey; from a broken home in Arkansas to the far-off Amazon rainforest - where a vicious attempt on his life becomes the catalyst for his most incredible adventure yet.
Beginning in a childhood of haunted ruins, underground caverns and confinement in a maximum-security educational institution, we follow Jason as he faces down bears, collects venomous serpents, falls in love with a tragic escape-artist and begins a bizarre apprenticeship with a feisty female herpetologist.
As an adult, his passion for gold prospecting takes him from the freezing wilderness of Alaska, through the backwoods of Oregon and on to the steaming jungles of Central America. Always running, without ever knowing where to or what from, until a face-to-face encounter with a wild jaguar and a chance meeting with a professional treasure hunter leads him to the Ecuadorian Amazon. There, he meets with resentment, murderous violence and betrayal. He also finds answers he never knew he was looking for, along with the tools to make himself anew and the will to help those who tried to kill him.
